CM Yogi Adityanath Mourns Gonda Canal Tragedy, Announces ₹5 Lakh Aid for Victims’ Families

The victims were pilgrims en route to Prithvinath Temple when their vehicle plunged into a canal under Itia Thok Police Station limits.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday termed the Gonda district accident that claimed 11 lives as “extremely heart-wrenching” and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. The victims were pilgrims en route to Prithvinath Temple when their vehicle plunged into a canal under Itia Thok Police Station limits.

The Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each for the next of kin of the deceased and instructed local authorities to ensure the injured receive immediate and proper medical care.

In a post on X, CM Yogi wrote, “The loss of life in the unfortunate accident in Gonda district is extremely tragic and heart-wrenching. My condolences are with the grief-stricken families.” He also added, “I pray to Lord Shri Ram that the departed souls attain salvation, the bereaved families find the strength to bear this immense sorrow, and the injured recover swiftly. Om Shanti!”

The vehicle was carrying 15 pilgrims at the time of the incident, officials confirmed.

This statement comes days after CM Yogi expressed grief over the Haridwar stampede near Mansa Devi Temple and announced financial support for victims from Uttar Pradesh. (ANI)
